My album of the month is "The Strut" by Gareth Lockane's Grooveyard

Gareth Lockrane has put the Flute back in jazz and what a sound those alto and bass flutes make. This is a really good and thoughtful album with superb compositions, seven by Gareth and one by the guitarist Mike Outram. Other members of Grooveyard are Alex Garnett on reeds, Ross Stanley plays the Hammond and Nick Smalley on drums, also on three tracks the voice of Nia Lynn can be heard. The arrangements are by Gareth as well, here is where he shows his coming of age. He plays the flute so lyrically but is still showing strength and inventiveness. Put this one in  your letter to Santa.
