Italian label “El Gallo Rojo” consistently produces some of the most creative and imaginative music anywhere in Europe. These three well known Italian musicians have chosen to investigate American Roots music with a set of original tunes and arrangements “in the style of” rural blues, bluegrass and traditional jazz. And as a bonus there’s a version of Jelly Roll Morton’s Wild Man Blues.

This isn’t nostalgia – there’s a lot of very modern sounding electronics and improvisation, and its not parody – but it is done with a lot of wit and imagination – a thoroughly entertaining set of tunes.

As far as I’m aware this isn’t in the shops in the UK, but it is available from the website HERE and to download from most regular sites.
