I was born in Kings Lynn however I don't sound like a Tractor driver as I was raised in East London / Essex.
I was given a reel to reel tape recorder and a pile of records and played at being a dj,so to this day I still have a soft spot for early sixties music and those up and coming English bands The Rolling Stones and The Beatles.
The late sixties also saw the rise of Motown,Stax and a few people that would influence the music scene for ever, namely The Jackson 5,Stevie Wonder and Aretha Franklin.I must have confused the local record stores as a teenager, by frequently purchasing records from Motown acts at the same time as Gary Glitter,T Rex and Elton John.I went through the coloured hair, safety pin phase and emerged (thankfully) as a soul boy (or as my Father called me,a white wog). Thanks to the disco boom and the saturation of Essex / Kent by decent venues and quality dj's,I was never short of funky and increasingly Jazzy sounds, and of course thanks to some fantastic Radio Shows Robbie Vincent, Greg Edwards, I was always primed for action.I moved to NZ in 1986 and have been boring the locals and my family
(I have a wife and 3 teenagers) ever since with a mix of soul, jazz funk and ever increasingly jazz.I have over the the past few years had shows on the now defunct Jazz Syndicate Radio and George Jazz.I hope you enjoy my shows,I play what I like,I hope you like what I play!
